United Methodist Women Host Baby Shower
The United Methodist Women hosted a baby shower at Room At the Inn, an organization that provides shelter and education for pregnant, homeless women. It was a blessing to be with these wonderful women. The UMW brought cases of diapers and wipes, clothing and other baby items to help these mothers and babies have a good start. We were grateful to the staff and Madeline and her family for their assistance, too.
Mrs. Hamilton is Honored
Thank you for your service!
Our beloved Mrs. Hamilton was honored for being a Charter Member of the Sigma Chi Chapter of Chi Eta Phi, Sorority, Inc. In November of 1971, she and ten other nurses came together and founded a chapter of their nursing sorority in North Carolina. Mrs. Annie McIver (first president) & Mrs. Arrie Smith were also founders (now deceased).
There are only 2 surviving founders, and they were honored in April for their service, impact and legacy. Governor Roy Cooper and Congresswoman Alma Adams also congratulated them by name in two special video messages. Mrs. Hamilton is seen here with the other founder, Mrs. Margaret Wingfield.
Mrs. Hamilton is Black History. She has an amazing legacy and we are very proud of her. We thank God for her and her work in our community. (Photos and some of copy borrowed from Rickiah Wingfield. Her grandmother is the other founder.)
Worship Under The Bridge
Thank you, Moriah and Holmes Grove for being in God's service. We worshipped God and fed the homeless with 16 Cents Ministry under the Spring Garden Street bridge. This is what God's love is all about! Even the children helped out. "For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me..." Matthew 25:35-38.
A Fun Morning at Backpack Beginnings, Inc.
The Outreach Team had a great time sorting food for Backpack Beginnings, Inc. Backpack Beginnings provides food for school children and supports a food pantry for families. There are thousands of food insecure children in our Guilford County Schools. Your financial support will go a long way in helping Backpack Beginnings’ mission to deliver child-centric services to feed, comfort and clothe children in need. The Outreach Team always welcomes your financial donations to support Backpack Beginnings, Inc. Please see Garry or Shelby Futrell for details.
School Supplies for Gillespie Elementary
THANK YOU, Moriah and Holmes Grove for your donations to fill 60 backpacks with school supplies and provide 23 gift cards and extra teacher supplies for Gillespie Elementary School! Your generosity will put smiles on the faces of these wonderful children and give them a good start for their school year.
Food Box Give Away
Thank you to Outreach, UM Men and trustees for being the hands and feet of Christ with the food give away!
