Pastor's Letter
Greetings Holmes Grove Church, March 1, 2023
I am thankful to God for all the great things you do here for the Kingdom at Holmes Grove Church. Bro. Richie Collins took the lead on our Black History Month Presentations, followed by Sis. Phyllis Greenlee, Dr. Gladys Reid, and Bro. Dale Tonkins. Each presentation allowed us to reflect on the opportunities in which our people paved the way for us.
Thank you to those who stopped by the church on Ash Wednesday for the imposing of ashes during lunchtime. In addition, I thank those who attended the Greensboro Cluster Church’s Ash Wednesday Service at Collins Grove UMC, in which the Cluster Choir provided the music, and I gave the message. Stay tuned for the location and times for the Maundy Thursday and Good Friday Services. In addition, stay tuned for other activities by the cluster as well as our missional network.
I thank those who have or are participating in the two-weekend Northern Piedmont District Lay Servant Training School 2023 February (25-26) through March (4-5). I am proud to have two new Lay Servants this year.
Please invite family, friends, and guests to attend our weekly in-person or virtual worship services, as well as our weekly Wednesday night Bible Study via Zoom.
Our Chair Yoga on Tuesday’s at 1:00pm is going strong. I am looking for ways to become more intergenerational through more activities at the church and many ways that we can serve our community.
During this season of Lent, a season of reflection and repentance, take a journey with Jesus. Please find time to spend time alone with Jesus, pray, fast, and store up treasures in heaven by being a blessing to those who are truly in need. As the Gospel of Matthew tells us, "For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." – Matthew 6:21
Yours in Christ,
Rev. Dr. John P. Henry, Jr.
