Pastor's Letter

Greetings Holmes Grove Church,                                                                                                                             March 1, 2024

Grace and Peace to you. We are starting the month of March, and it looks like another winter without snow. In fact, there is a flower blooming outside of our church. Thank you to the ten people who came by the church for the imposing of Ashes, including Jalissa and baby Aiden. As we journey through the wilderness for 40 days in the season of Lent, please take this time to pray, fast, help those in need, contact those who you have not seen recently, and listen to what God is telling you in this season of reflection. When we come out of the wilderness on Resurrection Sunday, we will enter a “new season” in our lives, with a new purpose.

Thank you to those who participated in the Lay Servant Training School 2024. This year, we have eight participants. We are growing in servant leadership, in which the United Methodist Church has an abundance of training opportunities.

Please continue to invite family, friends, guests, and those who may not know Christ to attend our worship services, our Bi-weekly Chair Yoga Tuesdays, and our weekly Wednesday night Bible Study via Zoom, and our 4th Sunday Children’s Church. We had an abundance of children this past Sunday for Children’s Church. As a Lighthouse Church, we are providing a welcoming and safe space, offering hope and peace for those who are in transition from their disaffiliating churches.

Let us not forget our mission: To Make Disciples of Jesus Christ for the Transformation of the World, and Vision: “To be an Intergenerational Church that loves serving the Lord together.”
Yours in Christ,
Rev. Dr. John P. Henry, Jr.
