Pastor's Letter

Greetings Family and Friends of Holmes Grove United Methodist Church in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ,

I would like to thank everyone who joins us in worship here at Holmes Grove, whether in person in the sanctuary, in the parking lot, or online through our Live Stream. God bless each and every one of you. The Henry family is enjoying meeting and getting to know each and every one of you.

There are some great things happening here at Holmes Grove Church.  We have supplied two elementary school classes with backpacks filled with school supplies, at Gillespie Park Elementary School. We have also assisted with Backpack Beginnings, which provides food, comfort, and clothing to those in need. The United Methodist Men have been working to beautify the front yard of our church. They are currently working on the wooden fence and the marquee. Soon, I would like to have a worship service and other events in the front yard to let people know that we are doing great things at Holmes Grove Church.

For this month, I would like to have an outdoor parking lot worship service on Sunday September 12, 2021. We are being mindful of the spread of COVID-19 and the Delta Variant, and want to continue to “Do no harm” as we rebuild the body of Christ, remembering our vision: “To be an intergenerational congregation of Christians who love to serve God together.” We have begun Bible Study (discipleship) on Wednesday’s at 6:30pm via Zoom. I plan to start a monthly Bible Study for our younger people in late September. We are blessing our students with gift cards as the start/return to school.

This month I also want to accomplish online giving as we remember the importance of Stewardship and how members and friends of various generations can participate. We will also begin preparing for our Charge Conference, which will take place on November 6, 2021. Lastly, we are looking forward to our church’s 147 th Anniversary in November. Stayed tuned for more great things at Holmes Grove Church. God Bless you all.

Yours in Christ,

Rev. Dr. John P. Henry, Jr.
