Pastor's Letter

September 1, 2022

Greetings Holmes Grove United Methodist Church,

The Henry family thanks you for your prayers and concerns as many things have transpired this summer. We are to give
thanks in all things, the joy and the sorrow. I am reminded of what the Apostle Paul said to the church at Rome, “In all these
things we win a sweeping victory through the one who loved us.” – Romans 8:37 (CEB)

We had a great time in the Lord at Annual Revival from August 7-10, 2022, with a Word from the Lord from Rev. Samuel A. Moore (Christ UMC - Greensboro), Rev. Dr. Kevin Sturdivant (Springfield Baptist Church - Raleigh), and Rev. Carlton
Sturdivant (Wentworth Baptist Church - Reidsville). We hope and pray that you will continue to “Hold to God’s Unchanging

Thank you for honoring our obligation to “Do no harm, do good, and stay in love with God” as we continue to wear our
masks throughout the pandemic. As summer vacation is ending and our children and young adults are heading off to
school, please keep them in your prayers for a safe and blessed academic year.

We have had some hot summer days. Since the weather is starting to cool off a little for fall, I would like for us to have
outdoor morning worship services throughout the month of September and October. We will need a portable sound system
and perhaps a few additional tents.

Our Church Council will meet on Saturday September 17, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. Please come with ideas as to how we can
grow our church as we strive to be an intergenerational congregation of Christians who love to serve the Lord together. I
will share information as to the status of our denomination, as churches are closing, and others are disaffiliating. I will also
share new trends within churches to keep in-person and online viewers engaged.

The Holmes Grove Finance Team is pleased to announce that we now have online giving. We are using Zelle: as well as CashApp: $Holmesgrovechurch. Please remember that online giving does not
replace traditional giving, but gives an alternative to those who do everything electronically.

Thank you for all you do at Holmes Grove Church and for others outside of these walls.
Peace, Love, and Blessings to you all.
Be Blessed,
Rev. Dr. John P. Henry, Jr.
